Traditional, classic, Kentucky-chic are words to describe the style at and around the Keeneland racecourse. The Breeders’ Cup brings a bit of a flair to the host track each year. If you’re considering that extra-exciting bold color fascinator or hat, this is time time to do bring it out. Flaunt your finest frocks at the 2015 Breeders’ Cup. One may run into famous Breeders’ Cup Ambassadors like Bobby Flay, Laura Bell Bundy, and even Kate Upton around town, so it’s important to style it up.
Typically on Friday at Breeders’ Cup the dress tends to be dressy, but not quite as dressy as Breeders’ Cup Classic day. Typically the theme is usually known as #PurpleFriday on this day.
Horse bits and felt hats are always in style during the fall season. The above ‘Felicia’ dress by Julie Brown can be found at the Keeneland Gift Shop here. The Hat? Well, of course it’s by Christine A. Moore! She’s the best milliner around 😉
If you tend to get cold easily, tights and booties are the way to go. A traditional trench coat that coordinates with the outfit is also be a great way to stay accessorize and stay warm, especially into the evening hours.
Equestrian style is very familiar to the Lexington area. Known as “the cradle” of the Thoroughbred breeding industry, Lexington boasts beautiful horse farms such as Calumet Farm, Claiborne, Coolmore, Lane’s End, Three Chimneys, and WinStar Farm (home of American’ Pharoah’s sire Pioneer of the Nile). Be sure to make some time and visit some or all of these horse farms when you are in Lexington. That being said, it’s definitely time to break out the horse bits and stirrup prints for this year’s Breeders’ Cup.

The Breeders’ Cup Classic day is all about fashion (and horses of course). Break out those Louboutins, Longines watches, and fabulous felt hats and strut your style with elegance. Layering with cashmere is also a great idea for this day just in case the evening draws a little chill.
Ladies, don’t forget about The Longines Prize of Elegance Fashion Event: October 30th and 31st outside the Clubhouse at Keeneland. More to come on this event soon…
Guys, don’t worry, we didn’t forget about you. You must be wondering what to wear to the Breeders’ Cup on October 30-31, 2015 as well. Again, equestrian style isn’t just for the gals…
Be sure to break out your horsey ties, and the above is the Official Breeders’ Cup tie found at Stuart Mercer
The equestrian inspired bowties and pocked squares featured above are by Goff Club Collection. They may be bought online or at Stuart Mercer in Lexington as well.
Browns and greens are really in style for men right now. Get creative with your tie, hat, and pocket square combination. Don’t have a pocket square? Get one- this is definitely the event to wear it 😉

The down-turned stingy brim or Sinatra style fedora styles are very popular at Keeneland, and they will keep your head worn in case it turns out to be a bit chilly in the evening.
Now that you have ideas for outfitting for the Breeders’ Cup, don’t forget to share your styles to social media and tag #BC15 when you do so. In case you won’t be at Keeneland for the Breeders’ Cup, remember to tune in to NBC sports or NBC on the following schedule:
