There’s just something so chic and elegant about a horse wearing Hermes…
Monica Stevenson just recently launched a fine art equestrian photography website specializing in black-and-white equine photographs that portray rich feelings, texture, and reflecting the enduring romance of equestrian tradition. Monica focuses on creating a handcrafted image by shooting with a Rolleiflex camera and printing in warm sepia tones.
Stevenson’s love for horses has taken her on journeys around the world, such as the above polo photo taken in Berlin, Germany. She has even traveled to capture images of snow polo in St. Moritz, summer polo in Montréal and Argentina, show jumpers in California, and even wild horses in France.
Some of these elegant photographs have already caused quite a stir in equine circles worldwide, with the series being exhibited in galleries such as the Mercedes Benz galleries in New York City and the Katonah Museum of Art, and as part of the permanent collection in the Focus Gallery, London. In the summer of 2010, Stevenson spent several weeks documenting the Arabian horse for H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi.
From still horse head shots, to galloping action-packed photos, Stevenson does a fine job of portraying the romantic elements in her black and white equestrian images…
This beautiful vintage inspired classic image of horse tack laid out is perfect for the tack room or living room of your home.
Stevenson will be attending many equestrian events and venues this winter season, and to view more of her work or to contact, please visit: http://www.monicastevensonphotography.com
