The 2016 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event is being held April 28th – May 1st, the week before the Kentucky Derby. Upon the beautiful grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park this prestigious competition is one of the three events in the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing. Thursday and Friday are devoted to dressage, Saturday is filled with the excitement of cross-country, and the finale of this event features features showjumping on Sunday.
An impressive list of entries is lined up for the 2016 Rolex, including Olympic and World Champions. Equestrian enthusiasts can watch 71 riders from nine countries compete for a shot at the $350,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing. An extra air of excitement comes along with this year’s event as it also is a qualifying competition for riders striving to be part of the U.S. Eventing Team for the 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The featured charity at this event will be the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, a non-profit organization that awards grants to approved aftercare organizations to retire, retrain and rehome Thoroughbreds. An auction will be held with a limited number of Maker’s Mark Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event commemorative bottles featuring the 2015 event winner, Michael Jung riding Fischerroncana FST. All proceeds from the auction will go to Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.
As if the Rolex excitement isn’t enough, country music star Hunter Hayes will be giving a concert in the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday evening, following Cross-Country. This will be a show you won’t want to miss!
