Talk about one tough job to judge over 80 boutiques at the 2014 Hampton Classic Horse Show! We are sending a special thanks to the judges, Samantha Yanks, editor of Hamptons Magazine, and Michael Grim of Bridgehampton Florists. Plenty of boutiques plan their merchandising strategies for this great equestrian event.
The winners have been announced for the 2014 Hampton Classic ‘Best In Show’ Booth Contest.
1st place: Hermes (Americana Manhasset)
“Last year, we finished third, so we knew we had to step it up this year to win,” said an excited Priscilla Smith of Hermes, standing next to a jump painted in their signature orange, in the center of their double-sized booth. “We’re now an official sponsor and supplier for the U.S. Equestrian Federation, and I think those products gave us some snap. But we also have a strong presence in silk this year, and we’ve brought out a lot of exciting colors too. “Plus we have ‘Hermy the Horse’ this year, and I think he brought us a lot of luck,” added Smith with a smile, clutching the brown horse doll with feathered legs that’s available for purchase.
Hermes was founded in Paris in 1837, making handmade harnesses for carriage horses. “Our first customer was the horse,” said Smith. That’s why their logo-a carriage horse-is imprinted on the brown Baldoc ribbon that surrounds their iconic orange packaging.Today, in addition to saddlery, Hermes makes clothes, shoes, belts, scarves and ties. “It’s all handmade in France, and we’re still a family-owned company,” said Smith.
2nd place: Wellington & Co. Antiques
Beautiful antiques inspired by polo, fox hunting, and show jumping.
3rd place: Long Island Livestock Company
Check out the Long Island local love… from Llama Loofas and more! This boutique was a winner of the 2013 Hampton Classic Booth Contest, and another ribbon winner this year!
