It’s eighty-three degrees, the sun is shining and you step onto the sands of Miami Beach to hear the subtle waves crashing and fixed-wing airplanes overhead. It may seem like just another beautiful day at the beach until you come to Collins Park, which is now a known destination for equestrian sports: showjumping and polo alike. This year, #BeachPoloMiami took over the Longines Global Champions Tour event set up and transformed it into an ever-so-chic and elegant swanky daytime arena polo event. The VIP tent was buzzing all day long with high energy music, announcing, and the best of the best food and drinks.
World Polo League’s Miami Beach Polo is the world’s largest beach polo tournament founded by Tito Gaudenzi, CEO of Lifestyle companies. Along with three incredible days of polo competition on the beach, one can be sure to experience upscale entertainment, excellent dining, upscale style, and fashion, and celebrity sightings. Sponsors and partners of this event include the City of Miami Beach, David Yurman, La Martina, Douglas Elliman South Florida, Karma Automotive, and Grand Champions Polo Club. The World Polo League Beach Polo Cup is part of a group of world-class polo events such as Kitzbühel Snow Polo World Cup, Cortina Snow Polo Cup, Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz, Aspen Snow Polo, as well as events at their host Polo Club, Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida.
We’ve been to watch polo on Miami Beach in the past, but World Polo League Beach Polo Miami Beach definitely stepped it up this year, and we hear next year is going to be even better!
Even if you’re not a horse person and just enjoy the social and fashion element of polo, Miami Beach Polo World Cup is sure one not to be missed.
The sold-out tournament featured some of the best polo players in the world including Nic Roldan, Alejandro Novillo Astrada, Melissa Ganzi, Jason Crowder and Juan Bollini who played in front of thousands of spectators (throughout the three days) that included Jeremy Shockey, Ines Rivero, Caroline Vreeland, Alexis Stoudemire, Jocelyn Wildenstein, Louis Aguirre and Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber, among many others.
