On Saturday, June 6th, 2015, the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes shook the historic grounds of Belmont Park in Elmont, NY. A sold out crowd of 90,000 gathered to see if American Pharoah could become the first horse in 37 years to capture the Triple Crown. Excited racing fans watched without disappointment as American Pharoah bounded down the long stretch with an impressive lead on his seven contenders, taking his place in the history books among eleven other great racehorses. Jockey, Victor Espinoza, was thrilled with the big beautiful bay colt and his incredible race, with a time of only two minutes and twenty-six seconds!
Spectators came dressed in accordance with the tradition of Belmont’s elegant attire. An array of lavish hats embellished with flowers, ribbon, or feathers were the featured accessories of the ladies’ attire. Many fans even decked out in American Pharoah hats in support of the bay colt and the triple crown excitement. Below are some of our favorite styles from this historic equestrian event.
