The Menlo Charity Horse Show benefiting Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired is pleased to announce its 44th annual show August 5 – 10 at the elegant Menlo Circus Club in Atherton. Attracting 450 exhibitors, Menlo is one of a handful of events in the United States to be honored with the USHJA Heritage Horse Show status.

The six-day event features non-stop Hunter and Jumper competitions from sunrise to sunset in three arenas. Spectators can take a break from watching the equestrian action on the polo field and enjoy premier shopping with over 40 vendors providing luxury merchandise for the home, garden and stable, as well as clothing and jewelry. Vendors such as Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry, Katharine Page and On Deck Designs will delight everyone from the equestrian to the most sophisticated spectator. Refuel and refresh in the Circus Club dining room, or enjoy food and drinks from various food and beverage purveyors throughout the grounds.
Los Gatos Luxury Cars and British Motor Car Distributors will present the Los Gatos Luxury Car Grand Prix on Saturday, August 9th, which is the highlight of the competition. As noted by Menlo Charity Horse Show founder and co-chair Betsy Glikbarg, “Menlo is proud to partner with such an exclusive luxury brand.” Kip Miles of British Motor Car Distributors further notes, “The Menlo Charity Horse Show has a distinguished and celebrated history here in the Bay Area both in equestrian and social circles. We are proud to support the Menlo Charity Horse Show and their commitment to helping Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.” Los Gatos Luxury Cars and British Motor Car Distributors will be debuting a one-of-a-kind Aston Martin DB9 for the Menlo Charity Horse Show that will be displayed during the show. $10,000 from its sale will be benefit the Menlo Charity Horse Show.

Wednesday, August 6
6 P.M.: $2,000 Windy Hill Larry Mayfield Memorial Horse & Hound Jumper (Class 238 1.2 m)
This unique event will feature teams of horses with riders and hounds with handlers who will race through a specially designed course of jumps.
Thursday, August 7
4 P.M.: $ 10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Presented by Daryl K. Hofman, MD
Emulating the open hunt, field horses will jump over a traditional hunt course and a handy hunt course. This class exhibits the beauty and tradition of the sport.
Friday, August 8
6 P.M.: $10,000 Harrell Remodeling Ryman Memorial “Take Your Own Line” Jumper Speed Class. This event showcases the speed and athleticism of the show jumper.
Gala Dinner Dance “The Magic of Courage” with Live and Silent Auction befitting Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired and generously underwritten by Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry. Menlo’s “Artist of the Year” Peter Samuels’ “Ready When You Are” will be a highlight of this year’s live auction; valued at $4,800. Reservations required
Saturday, August 9
6 P.M.: Los Gatos Luxury Car Grand Prix, presented by Los Gatos Luxury Cars and British Motor Car Distributors will showcase premier equine athletes as they compete over obstacles as tall as 5 feet 6 inches for a $40,000 prize.

Tax-deductible tickets for the Menlo Charity Horse Show are available at the gate for $10 per day; children under 12 and adults over 65 receive complimentary admission. Menlo Charity Horse Show: The Menlo Charity Horse Show [a 501(c)(3) organization] is an AA, USEF Heritage Show; the ultimate acknowledgement for USEF recognized equestrian events, benefiting the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Founded in 1970 as a one-day show, it has expanded into a six-day event attracting many of the most competitive Hunter/Jumper horses and riders in the United States and beyond. In 2013, the show raised $462,000 for Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The 2014 show will be August 5 – 10 at the Menlo Circus Club, 190 Park Lane, Atherton, CA.
