Love horses? Love springtime? Is the Triple Crown series right around the corner? In the midst of planning a wedding or Bachelorette party? Need a great idea to throwing or hosting an Equestrian-inspired Bachelorette Party? Host the bachelorette party on a farm (or with farm equestrian style inspiration) with your favorite girlfriends! Our founder, Ashley Cline, hosted her very own Bachelorette Party in Ocala, Florida at her parent’s farm over the weekend with inspiration below.
The Invitation: Simple, elegant, and derby inspired!
The Decor: From horse balloons, to bedazzled horse shoes, anything goes…
The house was decked out in wedding whites and blush pinks to coordinate with the feminine theme of the wedding in May. Horse balloons can be found at Bargain Balloons online in many different colors.
Tables were designed with blush pink table cloths, porcelain ponies, and glass vases with rhinestoned accoutered horseshoes (designed by mother of the bride, Kathy Cline) Custom paper plates and napkins were ordered through Zazzle. The logo artwork was completed by Rebecca Hinson of Charleston, SC. The “She’s off to the Alter!” pink and green jockey signage added a fun racing outdoor accessory on the pool patio.
The Activities: Kentucky Derby themed photoshoot, a farm tour, and dinner outing downtown.
Dressed in brightly colored Kentucky Derby inspired sundresses and decked out with Christine A. Moore Milinery hats and fascinators, the girls loaded up in the John Deere Gator for an authentic equestrian style farm photo shoot by Kathy Cline.
The ‘Ms. Red’ 1941 Ford F100 candy apple red truck gave us a unique blast from the past with just enough space for every gal (including the bride up on the top of the roof!)
Each hat/fascinator was carefully selected by the girls when they arrived on the farm to coordinate with their Kentucky Derby inspired dress. Each piece is uniquely hand designed with feathers, dyed silk, bows, and beads by our very own friend and milliner, Christine A. Moore.

“Let me start off by saying this: I’m not your typical bachelorette… I’m definitely not the type of gal who would enjoy to a weekend trip to Vegas in order to hammer down drinks and parade around in skimpy attire, so I decided to do something a little out of the ordinary. I though, let’s create a restful and relaxing getaway at my parent’s farm in Ocala, Florida for the Bachelorette weekend. Many of my friends had not experienced a weekend getaway that included waking up to galloping horses, cockadoodledooihng roosters, ever so cuddly miniature donkeys, and a pool overlooking the Spanish moss covered pastures,” explained Ashley Cline, founder of Equestrianstylist.com
“So, I thought, what the heck! Let’s invite the group for a derby-inspired slumber party on the farm. It was better than anything I could have ever imagined… My favorite girls in my favorite setting!”
The party wouldn’t be complete without a pass from Miss “Pepper”, the beloved miniature horse who won a national championship winning title back in the ’90s for Solid Color Mares.
In summary, the best way to have an equestrian style inspired Bachelorette party is to do the following:
- Make it personal (host it on your family’s property or a Bridesmaid’s home) Ps: You’ll save on hotel costs and extra rental expenses!
- Keep it casual, relaxed, and fun! Don’t go overboard with activities. Everyone will be completely happy just relaxing, soaking in the sun, touring the farm, and enjoying time with the horses.
- Hats are a must: Get dressed in Derby wear for the dinner outing. They complete the look, and add to photographs!
- Do the details: From horse shoe accessories, to painted ponies, pull out some of your favorite equestrian style decor to add to the design of the party.
