Yes, you read that right… It’s time to get real fancy here, friends: Holidays and Horses (oh, and high heels too!)
Velvet, sparkles, glitz and glam! It’s the time of year again, getting extra fancy for holiday parties and especially New Year’s eve. Say hello to my New Year’s eve date, “Sir Sunny”. He’s a 16.3H OTTB (Off The Track Thoroughbred) who is now my new 3’3″ Amateur Owner Hunter. For the record: Sunny did not try to eat one piece of grass during this photo shoot… Talk about a Gentleman!
Life is better spent on a horse than on some fancy rooftop, right?! I’m not saying to dismiss the invite to sip champagne at the Ritz rooftop overlooking the city, but sometimes spending the holiday on the farm is just a little more appealing. At this point, I’ve reached the last year of my twenties, and seems a lot more nerve wracking now that 30 will be happening in 2016… So, I’ve decided to cool out on the traveling and relax a little bit this year!
However, spending the holiday on the farm is not an excuse to skip the dressing up part of the holidays…
Meet one of my all-time favorite dresses: Isabelle (yes, I named her!) She was made in Charleston, South Carolina probably in the 1950s (shhh…I’m spoiled, I know). I found her at an antique store on John’s Island and I immediately fell in love. The velveteen and silk textile combination is crafted in quality one can only dream of today. I’m totally convinced I was born in the wrong era.
Not only is this look about the dress, but lets pause and talk about the SHOE for a second. Meet the Cole Haan Antonia Open Toe Pumps in gold-silver metallic. Literally Obsessed. I’m a sucker for comfort when it comes to high heels; I do not believe in the “no pain no gain” scenario when it comes to wearing stilettos.
I know what you’re thinking, the dreaded, “her heel isn’t down!” Drama. Let’s get real friends. If I’m wearing these shoes, the heels are not going down unless they are stepping on the ground.
Holidays and horses just fit. Whether it’s in the pasture, at the show ring, on a trail ride, with best friends or with family, they sure now how to make us smile. So, this year try something out of the ordinary. Break out the bubbly in the barn and throw a fancy fete with your equestrian friends and tell us how much fun you had… Trust me on this one, you’ll be thanking me 😉
Special thanks to Sir Walter for photobombing this fashion shoot brought to you by KathyClinePhotography.com 😉
