The World Equestrian Center, located in Ocala Florida, is set for a grand opening date in January 2021. Situated on more than 4,000 acres, the WEC is set to attract the best of the best in equestrian sports. The venue will feature an iconic 260-room hotel overlooking a 140,000-square-foot outdoor stadium arena, along with indoor climate-controlled arenas available for use all year round. Avid equestrian competitors, horse trainers, vendors, spectators, and sponsors now will have a comfortable venue to come compete and enjoy in the summertime months in Marion County where temperatures can be quite warm outside. The developer is RLR Investments LLC, which is part of entrepreneur Larry Roberts’ diverse group of companies, including the Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club, adjacent to the World Equestrian Center.
The World Equestrian Center hopes to host U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) events as well as Fédération Equestre Internationale(FEI) sanctioned events. Currently the organization is in the process of applying for consideration of sanctioned events and will hold it’s own horse show competitions until it receives USEF status. Organizers are hopeful the venue will become a destination for all equestrian sports including hunter/jumper, dressage, vaulting, reining, and breed-specific shows. Additionally, the World Equestrian Center can accommodate non-equestrian events as well.
“The World Equestrian Center is going to be a breathtaking venue for both horse and rider, and with the level of detail and luxury equestrian design at the Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club, we’re so excited to see what Larry Roberts’ team develops from an equestrian lifestyle perspective for this competitive facility,” explained Ashley C. Cagle of EquestrianStylist.com. ‘
The surrounding vicinity will also be “a place to call home” with the World Equestrian Center being the centerpiece of an upscale residential community planned for more than 3,200 acres west of County Road 225A between U.S. 27 and State Road 40 in Ocala.
The WEC in Ocala will be a sister facility to Southwest Ohio’s premier equestrian venue, The World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio providing a full service environment for both the horse and the rider.
