10 reasons why horse pictures make great wall art
Why horse wall art?
Man has appreciated horse wall art for thousands of years. In fact it is the very first wall art painted on cave walls in prehistoric times. Mankind has always lived together with horses. So it is only natural that we would love horses. Horses have played such a major role in our lives. They have worked with us on farms, they have been our major mode of transportation until 1900, and they have delivered our mail across the country. Even today the strength of a car engine is measured in “horsepower.”
When we look at fine art horse photography prints we can see throughout the centuries that horses have always been drawn, painted and of course photographed. Today there are thousands of beautiful horse photographs to choose from for your home. We have close up portraits, horses grazing as well as racing and wrestling. Literally every moment of a horse’s life has been photographed.
If you are thinking of horse wall art to grace the walls of your home you can be sure to create successful and beautiful interiors
Horse wall art brings emotion into your home
When you have decided what statement you want to have in a particular room you will surely be able to select horse wall art that will suit your needs. We are going to suggest some for you.
- First and foremost you should select equine art for its sheer beauty. To be able to see these animals brought to life on your walls is a joy for all to see. Man has loved horses throughout the ages. So it only makes sense that he would be happy to see them on his walls.
- Think through what emotion that you would want to have reflected in a specific room. Is it excitement or drama, serenity and peace or simply an example of a horse’s daily activities? For excitement there are photos of horses fighting or galloping through water. For serenity we have prints of horses walking slowly into the sun set. For daily activities we have horses peacefully grazing.
What and where do you want to hang your horse wall art?
We would like to make some suggestions that can help while deciding your interior design plan.
- The EntryWay. A happy welcoming mood should define this space. One or two small framed photos of colts playing (perhaps on either side of a mirror) would be ideal for this space.
- The Living Room. This room requires more thought and defines the essence of your interior design plan. If you want excitement and action a large or oversized fine art photography print of horses fighting or racing through the water would make a major dramatic statement. Should you prefer a peaceful mood, horses walking along the shore line at dawn might be your choice.
- The Dining Room. This is an important room where the family has several meals a day. It should have a relaxing atmosphere. A scene of the herd casually grazing could set the right tone here.
- The Family Room or Den. The idea of relaxation or fun should define this room. Several horses walking slowly around the coral would do the trick for this space.
- The Master Bedroom. Here too we should give serious thought as to what mood we want to express. It is a good idea to have the mood here reflect relaxation and peace. An indoor scene of horses sleeping in their stalls might be a good decision. Another possibility could be a mare with her foal roaming about in the coral.
- The Guest Room. For this room we should have an atmosphere of relaxation. Two portraits in separate frames of a black and a white horse facing each other could be ideal. They should be hung on the wall opposite the bed so that they can be easily seen when one’s head is on the pillow.
- The Bathroom. We recommend a small grouping of three or four prints that are of stop action shots hung at eye level.
- The Kitchen. If you have a large kitchen with a dining area there is probably at least one empty wall. It is a good idea to feature a lively scene here. Several horses running towards the viewer splashing water about them could do wonders for this room. It should not be too large so as not to take over the room.
We will now look into other rooms and areas of the home that may require horse wall art.
- The Nursery. The best solution here is to have colts roaming around the coral. This creates the appropriate atmosphere. The wall art should be medium in size and hung either above the crib or on the wall opposite the crib. You can also consider using two prints here.
- The Laundry Room. In this room we may want to be frivolous. We could choose a medium sized print of two horses wrestling with each other. It could be quite interesting if one is white and the other black. The print should be hung above the washer and dryer and not too high.
- A Long Hallway. This is ideal for a gallery wall. We can hang all of our favorite horse pictures here. They can be any measurement and size. They may be framed or not framed. These prints should be hung randomly and at about eye level. You may prefer equal spacing between prints or not. The important consideration here is that these prints should be your most favorite horse prints. They should reflect the happiest moments that you have shared with horses.
