On Saturday March 14, 2015, Rodes-For Him & For Her will be producing the Runway and Rescue Fashion Show featuring the trendiest and most eye-catching men’s and women’s fashions.
This event will benefit both the American Saddlebred Museum and Saddlebred Rescue. The Museum is located on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington where it displays the history of America’s oldest registered breed of horse through interactive exhibits, films, and child friendly activities.
Saddlebred Rescue, based in Hardwick, NJ, not only educates the public on the plight of Saddlebreds that have fallen upon hard times, but also works to save the unwanted horses from slaughter and return them to useful, productive lives. So far they have saved and re-homed over 800 down-on-their-luck Saddlebreds.
Currently run by the family’s 4th generation, Rodes is a 100-year-old family-owned apparel business with ties to the Saddlebred world. Members of the Rodes family were showing American Saddlebreds to wins at the Kentucky State Fair as early as 1930. Officially called Rodes For Him & For Her, the store continues to offer designer collections to create head to toe ensembles for both men and women. The fashion show will spotlight curated looks from Rodes’ designer, custom, collections and contemporary lines, and many from within the Saddlebred industry will be walking the runway for this event. In addition, Lourdes Chavez and Algo of Switzerland fine custom clothiers; Emy Mack Shoes and Christine Moore Hats; and Clara Williams Co. Jewelers will provide their fashion guidance.
Well-known television personality, author and Saddlebred owner Carson Kressley, will lend his talent and expertise as emcee for the evening and The Silver Spoon will cater the event which will begin at 6:00 pm with a cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres followed by the fashion show at 7:00, then heavy hors d’oeuvres and shopping after the show. Fine wines will be supplied courtesy of Nic de Wet Wines and Leatherwood Stud at the Open Bar. Hair and makeup styling by Joseph’s salon and fashion production by Gunnar Deatherage.
Rodes will generously donate 20% of all sales that evening to the two charitable organizations. Additionally, attendees to the event can shop at Rodes (located at 4938 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY) the rest of the month of March as well as from June 2 – 6 (during the local Rock Creek Horse Show), and Rodes will donate 10% of all sales during those timeframes to the charities.
