There are no better sports than horse racing which provides the most excitement and thrill for its spectators. Besides the action on the turf, one can always choose Indiana horse betting to spice things up for some entertainment & enjoyment.
1- 1936 Ascot Gold Cup
The 1936 Ascot Gold Cup was one of the best races of all time. Quashed and Omaha gave a thrilling contest that people wouldn’t forget in ages. Quashed was a winner at the Oaks before the beginning of the race while Omaha was the US Triple Crown winner. Both racehorses gave a fierce competition, looking almost inseparable throughout the final stages of the competition.
Quashed established a narrow lead and didn’t let go of that advantage until he prevailed by a short head in the end. Quashed and Omaha were both worthy winners for providing such a brilliant sporting spectacle.
2- Arkle’s victory over Mill House
Arkle is regarded as one of the greatest racehorses in the United Kingdom. He has the highest Timeform rating of 212 with only Flyingbolt having a number anywhere near his. However, his adversary Mill House, who won the 1963 Cheltenham Gold Cup, was just as great. He even defeated Arkle in that year’s Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury.
The next Cheltenham Gold Cup was a brilliant opportunity for Arkle to take his revenge and truely announce himself to the world. Since Arkle was representing Ireland and Mill House was representing England, so this was also a sort of tribal contest.
Both horses were excellent on the turf that day, but it soon became clear to everyone that Arkle was a class above everyone else. Despite Mill House’s full efforts, Arkle easily named the race by five lengths.
3- Affirmed and Alydar
Great sporting moments are all about great sporting rivalries, and in horse racing Affirmed and Alydar were the two great rivals who produced some of the most spectacular moments. Both horses competed with each other in three Triple Crown races and both could rightly be called worthy winners in those races.
Affirmed won by one length in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes saw him prevailed by a neck over Alydar. The two great horses then locked horns in the Belmont Stakes and once again gave a thrilling display. Unfortunately for Alydar, he lost the race again and that time by the difference of a head.
