The Reclaimed Barn wood trend is here to stay. It’s classic, chic, and brings a piece of the farm into the home. If you’re looking to give your home an updated look in farm house chic equestrian style, look no further than some inspiration from Salt Wood Co located in Charleston, SC. We were deeply inspired by some fabulous pieces hand crafted and designed in Charleston.
The rustic and weathered look of antique barn wood gives a rich style and showcases the history and timeless beauty of an antique farm. No two pieces of barn wood are the same, so each piece is precisely customized. The colors and weathered characteristics of the reclaimed barn wood depend on where the barn was located (exposed to the sun, in a valley, under the oak trees, or covered in ivy).
Below are ten favorite ways to add reclaimed barn wood in your home for classic and elegant equestrian style.
- The Bed: Salt Wood Co. is famous for the fabulous suspended bed swing. We are absolutely *in love* with this rustic chic and fun design for any bedroom. Some have even installed the bed swing on the screened in porch to enjoy the nature sounds and crisp morning air.
2. The Sliding Barn Doors: A popular trend today is the barn wood sliding doors. Dress up a living room, bathroom, or even an office with these chic rustic reclaimed doors. Salt Wood Co. specializes in designing the doors specific to each customer. Our favorite design is the half “X” design similar to a stall door in a traditional barn.
Whether you have the room for two doors or one door, each piece makes a statement and will create a fabulous equestrian style look to the room.
3. Dining Room Table: What better way to dine than feeling like you’re on a farm! Mixing and matching a bench with chairs is a fun and stylish way to update the dining room.
4. The Bathroom: Ever think to update a guest bathroom or powder room with some reclaimed barn wood? Whether you are adding it to the walls or creating a vanity for a sink, it’s a great way to add a little custom farm house chic to the overall look.
5. Side Tables: Fully weathered, or nice and glossy barn wood side tables look great both ways. Depending on your style, go with whatever makes sense for the overall style of the home.
6. Cabinet tops: Instead of granite, try using reclaimed barn wood for an understated and fresh look for storage.
7. Flower Boxes: These barn wood flower boxes make the perfect porch accessory (or even a beautiful derby jump accessory!)
8. Mirrors: Think outside of the box and remember reclaimed barn wood can be painted and weathered to match the overall color scheme of your home. This fabulous mirror is a beautiful focal point for the room.
9. Benches: We love the reclaimed barn wood bench for any mud room or tack room. It’s a simple and chic design to allow guests and riders to take a seat and slide on their riding boots for the day.
10. Stackable crates and timeless frames: Reclaimed barn wood ideas are endless, and depending on your budget, any customization can be done to suit your home or barn. Stackable crates and barn wood frames also make perfect gifts since one can always find a place or use for these timeless accessories in the home.
At Salt Wood Co. they have a variety of finishes and techniques to create a beautiful piece of art.
